When Novak couples a high-caliber speed
control with a fast brushless motor, you get one affordable
high-speed system, also known as the TraxxasR-compatible Havoc
3S/Ballistic 8.5 (5,000 Kv) Brushless System (#3083).
The Havoc 3S Brushless/Brush ESC has the ability to run on
either two or three-cell Li-Po batteries, which the speed
control automatically detects through Novak's auto-detect
Li-Po software. This feature allows users to run a
wider range of batteries and - for the speed-hungry racers -
bestows the Havoc 3S with its remarkably speedy reputation.
The energetic Ballistic 8.5 Brushless Motor also contains
many new features, such as an easy-to-adjust
timing assembly that
alters the RPM range and a completely
rebuildable design. In fact, nine brushless motor
pieces can be replaced, such as the Timing/Sensor Assembly
(#S5942) and the Brushless Hand-Wound Stator (#S6608),
which creates dozens of motor wind options
This product is equipped with TraxxasR
compatible battery connector, able to handle a
high-current, and ready for easy installation. In other
words, no
soldering! The
Havoc 3S also includes gold-plated
bullet motor plugs, which eliminate tricky wiring
and allow the system to remove easily from the vehicle
without soldering. .
GO BALLISTIC
But the innovations don't end there. The Ballistic 8.5 also
boasts a removable 9"
shielded sensor harness. The motor is also
outfitted with a custom-silicone gasket seal to keep dirt
and debris from damaging the motor's sensor plug, and high-efficiency,
heavy-duty, low-loss solder tabs that
are strong enough to endure repeated soldering and tough
crashes. The Ballistic motor is also equipped with a 12.3mm
nickel-plated sintered Neodymium rotor for
maximum motor acceleration, braking power and performance in
high-temperature conditions, and Thermal
Overload technology to
prevent motor damage from overly high temperatures.
CREATE HAVOC
For those interested in fine tuning, the Havoc 3S
Brushless/Brush ESC offers a simple interface, making the
system completely programmable with vast customization
opportunities. One parameter, in particular, is Novak's Throttle
Curve that
gives drivers the ability to experiment with two throttle
responses - Linear and Expo - to switch between a
direct-throttle response to a smoother, more controlled
low-end power delivery. In addition, the Havoc's Brake
Frequency adjustment
contains seven degrees of adjustability from a smooth and
controllable brake to a more abrupt and grabbier feel.
Moreover, Novak has also built into the ESC a Li-Po
Cut-Off Circuitry feature,
which prevents the batteries from going below the critical
safety voltage level. For further racing opportunities,
Novak installed a Reverse
Disable feature
to turn the Havoc 3S into a forward-onlybrushless system for
club-level racing.
Additionally, the Havoc 3S/Ballistic 8.5
Brushless System's small footprint and low cost make it a perfect complement
to1/10-scale off-road and on-road vehicles, such as
theTraxxasR Slash™, HPI'sR E-Firestorm™ and
Associated'sR SC10 2WD Race Truck Kit™. The Havoc
3S also containsone of the strongest BECs for
sport applications, comes with a Clear Cooling Fan (#5648)
and includes nine
adjustable parameters to
fine-tune brake and throttle response.
