Literally. The EX motors break from Novak's traditional purple motor sleeve with a new gold one. A unique feature of all Novak motors is the ability to upgrade or replace various parts. Although deemed a sport model, the EX motors are no exception. Users are able to replace parts like the front end bell/bearing and rear bearing (#5905), as well as the rotor (#5906) if needed, and not simply toss the motor aside. To upgrade the EX motor to SS-Series performance, Novak upgrade kit #5923 is available. This kit includes a sintered rotor and oversized bearings, which are required for optimal racing. The EX's bonded rotor is not recommended for racing.
